What Shipping Service Does US Edge Grinding Use?
US Edge Grinding ships freshly sharpened knives via USPS and UPS. For returning used knives, we provide a prepaid USPS return shipping label to make the process seamless and hassle-free.

How Do I Cancel My Subscription?
Canceling is easy! Simply log into your account, go to the Service Options tab, and select ‘Cancel’.
Once you cancel, we’ll send you a return box with a prepaid shipping label to send back the US Edge Grinding knives. If you need assistance, contact us—we’re happy to help.
⚠️ Note: If the knives are not returned, US Edge Grinding reserves the right to charge for the knives and any shipping costs incurred.
What Happens if I Damage or Lose a Knife?
We understand that accidents happen. If a knife is lost or damaged, simply contact us, and we’ll work with you to resolve the issue. Our goal is to ensure you always have the tools you need, and we’ll assist you with next steps.
What Should I Do if I Can’t Find All of the Used Knives to Return?
No worries! Simply return all the used knives you can find. If any are missing, just send them back with your next shipment when they turn up. We’ll make it easy for you!
What Happens if I Forget to Return the Used Set?
If the used set is not returned, your subscription will still renew and you’ll be charged the regular service fee on your scheduled date. However, fresh knives will not be shipped until we receive the used set. Please ensure timely returns to keep your service running smoothly!
When Should I Send Back the Used Set of Knives?
For the best service, swap out the knives as soon as you receive your fresh set—fresh knives out of the box, used knives into the same box. Then, the following day, place the box in your outgoing mail, and your mail carrier will pick it up for return.
When Do I Get Charged for the Service?
Our knife rental service operates on a recurring subscription basis. You will be charged according to your chosen plan. For example, if you receive fresh knives every week, your account will be charged weekly.
How Much Does It Cost to Start the Knife Service?
The cost of your first shipment is all you need to pay to get started. There are no additional startup fees, and you can cancel at any time with no hassle.
How Does US Edge Grinding Shape an Edge?
At US Edge Grinding, we follow a professional process to shape the perfect edge, ensuring durability and precision with every knife. Here’s how we do it:
Hollow Grinding
We begin with hollow grinding, an aggressive thinning process that removes steel from both sides of the blade simultaneously. This step requires skill to ensure material is removed evenly, preparing the blade for the next phase.
Edging
Our traditional free-hand flat grinding technique shapes a precise edge on a stand-up grindstone, passed down through generations of craftsmanship. This method allows us to achieve a sharp, durable edge on most blades, with an operator skilled in the craft.
Buffing
Next, we use a 220 grit buffing wheel to remove deeper grinding marks, smooth the edge, and enhance its sharpness. Buffing helps create a finer, polished edge overall.
Honing
The final step is honing, where we carefully remove any remaining burrs, leaving the knife with a fine, razor-sharp edge. Depending on the blade, honing can be done either by hand on a flat stone or using a honing machine with a 440-grit finish.
